Migrant Integration Project & Shelter
Newcomers Project Integrates 40 Migrant Families & Establishes Transitional Shelters
MD's "Newcomers" program has begun providing transitional housing to migrant families who are homeless or in dangerous living situations, prioritizing single parents with children. MD is leasing 2 housing units, one in Silverthorne and one in Breckenridge, thanks to the support of Summit County and the Town of Breckenridge.
Since late last fall, Mountain Dreamers' "Newcomers" migrant integration project has welcomed 40 families with intensive support to help them get oriented and "on their feet". MD's Spanish speaking team has offered the Newcomers not only invaluable assistance, but also sincere friendship and a trusted guiding hand through the disorientation and culture shock of arriving in a new country and new community.
Thanks to the Rose Community Foundation of Denver, the Colorado Health Foundation, and generous local donors for helping us support and welcome Newcomers to Summit!
