COLORADO GIVES

Every day, families in our mountain communities live with the fear of family separation. When ICE detains a loved one or faces deportation, the consequences ripple far beyond the individual:

  • Children lose parents

  • Employers lose trusted workers, and

  • Our community loses neighbors and friends.

Colorado Gives Day is the biggest giving event in the state. This year at Mountain Dreamers, we're raising money for our neighbors detained by ICE and their families. Due to the huge demand for help for families being torn apart by ICE, our goal is $50,000! Your gift will help us keep immigrant families together by providing the crucial legal and financial support they need.

The “Newcomers Program” serves Summit and Eagle Counties to build bridges between organizations and immigrant families, connecting them with resources that expand opportunities and remove barriers in housing, employment, food, education, health, transportation, and legal services.

“Las Casitas” offers transitional housing for immigrant families facing homelessness or unsafe conditions, prioritizing pregnant women and single mothers.

To date, the program has welcomed 149 families, 120 in Summit and 29 in Eagle, and provided housing to 7 families at “Las Casitas.” 10 babies have been born, including three during their families’ stay.

Through intensive support, Mountain Dreamers’ Spanish-speaking team helps newcomers settle and thrive, offering not only invaluable assistance but also friendship and guidance through the disorientation of arriving in a new country. We are proud to help newcomers feel at home in Summit and Eagle Counties.

ADVOCACY FOR BETTER QUALITY OF LIVING

Mountain Dreamers works with towns, counties, and local organizations in local and statewide initiatives to elevate voices together and ensure immigrant residents are heard in decision-making. Many of the families most affected by policy changes often believe they have no rights or no place to speak up.

Mountain communities continue to face barriers to housing, transportation, healthcare, education, and legal services. This progress is possible thanks to the collaboration of community leaders, volunteers, and partner organizations working to increase Latino participation in equity-focused initiatives. Our efforts have supported displaced families from Silverthorne’s mobile home parks, secured safe water access for residents in Farmer's Corner, helped preserve the Blue River Apartments inventory, connected families to affordable homes, and increased access to local transportation at Swan Meadow Village in Summit Cove, or a CO Driver's License.

Other examples include the Summit County Housing Needs Assessment, Blueprint Summit County, Safe Streets for All, and improved translation access in local school districts.

Your support allows Mountain Dreamers to continue advocating for dignity, safety, and opportunity for every immigrant family in our mountain region. Thank you for standing with us!
